Ingredients

Scale

Garlic Cilantro Lime Sauce:
ยผ cup oil
ยฝ cup chopped green onions
ยฝ cup cilantro leaves
2 cloves garlic
ยฝ tsp salt
Juice of 2 limes
ยฝ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
ยผ cup water (optional for thinning)
Shrimp Spice Mix:
2 tsp chili powder
2 tsp cumin
ยฝ tsp onion powder
ยฝ tsp garlic powder
ยผ tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp coarse sea salt
For the tacos:
1 lb large shrimp (peeled & deveined)
2โ€“3 cups shredded cabbage
8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
2 avocados
ยผ cup Cotija cheese
Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare garlic cilantro lime sauce by blending all sauce ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth
Mix shrimp spice blend in a small bowl (chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne, salt)
Season shrimp with spice mix and sautรฉ in a skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of oil until just pink (2-3 minutes per side)
Toast tortillas in a dry skillet or warm oven until pliable
Layer cooked shrimp, shredded cabbage, and a dollop of cilantro lime sauce onto each tortilla
Top with sliced avocado and crumbled Cotija cheese
Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side

Notes

For a chunkier sauce, pulse the cilantro and green onions in the blender instead of pureeing completely
To reduce spice, omit cayenne pepper or add a splash more water to dilute the sauce
Use corn tortillas for a lighter option, or flour for a softer texture
Store leftover sauce in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 4 days
Substitute corn for wheat with gluten-free tortillas if needed
