Description

This hearty hobo casserole combines ground beef, potatoes, and melty cheese for a comforting, one-pot meal. A quick and easy family dinner that layers rich flavors with minimal effort.


Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4โ€“5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
1ยฝ cups shredded cheddar cheese
ยฝ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp Italian seasoning
ยฝ tsp paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
ยฝ cup beef broth (or water)
ยผ cup milk (optional, for creaminess)
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC)
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat
Sautรฉ onions and garlic until fragrant
Add ground beef, cook until browned and crumbled
Stir in Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper
Layer thinly sliced potatoes in the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish
Pour beef mixture over the potatoes
Evenly distribute cheddar cheese on top
In a small bowl, mix Parmesan with beef broth and milk (if using). Pour over the cheese layer
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes
Remove foil and bake for 10โ€“15 minutes, until golden and bubbly
Garnish with fresh parsley before serving

Use lean beef for a lighter version.
Thinly sliced potatoes ensure even cooking.
Parmesan can be substituted with halal-certified cheese.
Optional milk enhances creaminess; omit for a drier texture.
