Ingredients
1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
3 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
3 large egg yolks
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups mascarpone cheese
1 cup heavy cream
24 ladyfinger cookies
Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
1. Combine espresso and coffee liqueur in a shallow dish and let it cool completely
2. Whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale, thick, and creamy
3. Fold mascarpone cheese into the egg mixture until smooth
4. Whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then fold into mascarpone mixture
5. Dip each ladyfinger quickly into the coffee mixture and arrange in a baking dish
6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the first layer
7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and remaining cream
8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight
9. Dust with cocoa powder before serving
