It is a healthy, restaurant-quality meal that requires minimal cleanup and effort, ensuring a tender and flavorful outcome that the whole family will love.
Ingredients
2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
3/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
Sesame seeds for garnish
Sliced green onions for garnish
Instructions
Place the chicken into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker in an even layer.
In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger until smooth.
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken.
Cover and cook on low for 5 hours.
In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
Stir the slurry into the slow cooker, cover, and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
Chicken thighs remain the most tender option for long cooking times. If using chicken breasts, check after 4 hours to prevent drying. Ensure that the cornstarch slurry is fully incorporated during the thickening stage for the best sauce texture.
